A Writer With Guts.
I’m one of those people that gave up on Amazons Attack once I realized that a. it was going to have something to do with Darkseid [Granny, Apokolypse, --general lameness] and b. the poor handling of Artemis and the rest of the Amazons…–and don’t even get me started on some of the tie-ins that severely torked me off. I did what any normal fan would do, I expressed my anger when I reached my tipping-point, and just didn’t buy anymore copies or give it anymore blogspace. However, I HAVE SEEN WORSE. I think I’m the only person on the planet that didn’t like George Pérez’s run. My scandal, but I’m not going to contact the man and yell at him about it--but it did keep me away from Wonder Woman for a very long time. The same way Piccoult’s run kept me away, but only this time–for just a few issues.
Even in manga…I’ve skipped over entire arcs from 13+ volume series simply because the story got so lame that I stopped buying. Did the next arc work? Sometimes, and I picked the book up again. Live and learn and then get Luvs.
But whoa, opening yourself up to the internet-fandom, for criticism…that takes some serious steel. Hats off man, I could never do that. Seriously. I avoid Amazon.com reviews these days because they have a ‘please comment on this review’ feature. 0_0. Yep. And while there’s been a few stories of mine [short ones] that have garnished some backlash critically, I’ve never had a full-fledged failure that I can call my own. I’m sure I will. As writers, we all have at lease 1, right? [I don't consider a rejection by a submissions editor as a failure--those are just temporary set backs

So Amazons Attack is, in my opinion as a fan of his work, Pfief’s Phirst Tank. I wouldn’t blame editorial, not if my name is on the book and I think opening up his blog to crits from the internet fringe [folks who tend to forget the nuances of social tact, because it's easy acting like a complete asshole when you're in front of a keyboard 24/7 -- and safe from someone actually punching you out for being so rude] is his way of saying, I ain’t down with blaming editorial. Give me your abuse if you think I deserve it.
You’re a better man than me, dude…
I recently interviewed Yayoi Neko and she said something in regard to fans being annoyed about creators who ‘flake’ or ‘produce slow’ or fail to produce for them in a timely matter– I think her sentiments on that, fit this situation like a glove:
I think if fans could understand what the work means to the artist, they would be less likely to make a fit.

Thanks for commenting on my blog because it brought me to your blog and I think - - no, I KNOW - - that I’m in love with you!!!
I actually suffered through AMAZONS ATTACK and Piccoult’s WONDER WOMAN run (what can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment) and I am SO happy that it’s over.
Are you following COUNTDOWN? Is ANYONE (other than me) following COUNTDOWN? I swear, I tried to give it a go, but man-oh-man, it is trying my patience. And I’m a Southern boy - - we’re born with OODLES of patience.
Again, LOVELY blog. And thank you for the link!
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now. I tend to lurk, read, and enjoy–but the Sagger pic moved me to comment. I’m still in awe of that ASS.
I bought Countdown for Bart’s funeral, namely because of the cover, I’m a sucker for emo Tim Drake [no matter who's steering USS continuity, speaking of which, I think Beechen's current Tim Drake has my craving covered]. One thing I like more than metrosexual Tim Drake, is Tim Drake getting his ass kicked by women stronger than him. It’s like Beechen’s reading my private thoughts.
