Oh Yeah Baby!

It seems that I’ve been asleep at the wheel. I just saw a preview for ‘No Country For Old Men’. 0_____0 I read this novel a few years ago, and it kicked so much ass. Casting Javier Bardem as Anton was a stroke of brilliance. Anton was my favorite part of the book, for obvious reasons: dude used a cattlegun to take care of business, and there was a LOT of business…

SPOILISHER!

I have a feeling though, it might get white-washed, a la Hollywood. I hope that doesn’t happen. :(

THE BOOK is about this guy named Moss who’s out hunting when he comes up on this drug deal turned massacre. Instead of helping the one surviving Mexican dude who’s there bleeding–Moss helps himself to the millions in cash that’s been left behind after the skirmish. Feeling shitty [way after the fact IMHO] he goes to the Sheriff Bell and tells him what happened [leaving out that he took the fucking money!]; and so Bell and the law set out to protect Moss and his wife from any potential problems. That’s when Anton shows up, the hired gun sent to recover the cash; and of course, his ex-partner is also hired to get the cash [which makes all sorts of trouble for Anton!]. Bell figures out that Moss took the cash [I mean, Anton nearly catches Moss a few times and there's a huge body count racking up!~] so he puts two and two together and realizes that Anton isn’t just some hit man out to kill Moss because he might have seen something…there’s a ton green involved, and so Bell says he’ll protect Moss from Anton, for some of the cash.

It goes downhill from there, but Moss is a real a-hole, as I said, there are no ‘good people’ in the book except for Bell–I wont ruin it, in case they do stick to the book… the only awesome thing I would’ve loved about this book? If Anton was GAY! Something about gay hitmen just drives me insane! Wouldn’t it be lovely if the Cohen Bros made Anton gay? It would certainly make up for the heterosexualization of John Cusack’s character, in the Martian Child.
