I Dare You to Make Less Sense.

published.gifIf Barnes and Noble were one set of buttocks, I’d kick them so hard right now. BN.com gets title info from the Bowker database, if you’re a creator who’s already been published and you’re also in the BN.com database, when a book comes into Bowker’s system with your name on it, it automatically gets posted at BN.com in pre-order status. This is not always a good thing, because they don’t have the cover art, or information about the plot. :/ All they have is stats, and when the publish date is. You, as the publisher, must go to BN [or your distributor must go to BN] and supply the pertinent info. What’s frustrating is, they have paperwork for me to fill out, that’s basically asking me for all the same info they parsed from Bowker. This is not an electronic file; I have to fill this out long-hand; they’re asking for everything they have on their site right now, —except for 1 thing, a sample copy of the title in order for them to verify the book is in print and shipping from somewhere.

I emailed and asked; can’t I just send you the two titles with a cover letter and press kit [this is what you have to do for inclusion in the brick/mortar stores]?

I got an email back saying – please download our new author/publisher paperwork, and then please make sure this information is registered with Bowker, so that we may access it. ((0___o)) Also, please verify you have done this… blah blah blah. I’m about to make a screencap and print it out and say…here’s my verification bitches—I’m in your online store, and you’re taking pre-orders!!
