Ra’s al Ghul: Angsting Teens, Just Say No.

I saw this posted over at the Robin Daily LJ Com.

Am I the only one that didn’t like Tim’s depiction in the Resurrection of Ra’s al Ghul? I understand that this was supposed to be a ‘Bat family’ plot—you know where the Gotham men have dramas with each other, as a family…so being the youngest, Robin is supposed to be the ‘reckless’ kid who needs to be reminded that his wants and needs have consequences…but Tim Drake in the Robin series is relatively ‘together’ on the intellectual front [don't ask me about Titans--I hate his depiction lately, in Titans], and so he just came off as too emotionally immature on this one. OR - the characterization is ok, and I’m the one feeling no love here. (>.&gt ;) One note of weirdness: with all this talk of Trinity coming back, I got the GN out of my stash and as I reacquainted myself with it, I realized that what I most disliked about this book [really, there was just only 1 thing I disliked about Trinity--it was a good read overall] was depiction of 14 year old Artemis…a strong kid with immature goals, who allies with Ra’s al Ghul when he promises to make her shitty life, ‘all better’.

Pic only, I ain’t slapping this book on my scanner-
I don’t have timez.

Wow…maybe it’s not necessarily Tim’s depiction I dislike, but this plot device. :/

Still, I’m going to pick up the Resurrection of Ra’s al Ghul hardcover in May; mainly because I have it on good authority it’s chock-full of Gotham-boy candy. Gratuitous shots of Dick Grayson’s ass appear at least every ten pages, along with extensive scenes featuring Tim Drake’s gorgeous boi-boobs in his tight red suit—with the added bonus being that this Damien boy is no slouch…and Batman? Who cares, he’s old. If I want to see an older hottie, I’d go look at Mr. Gynocrat in spandex. (LOL!)

Regardless, I’ve wasted my money on worse looking yaoi artbooks. :) It does have me curious; are the artists thinking about the female fans when they draw these stories? G*d bless you Tony Daniel, Don Kramer, Ryan Benjamin, and Freddie Williams [especially you Freddie, your Tim Drake is the Hotness]. G*d bless you’s guys for thinking of female fans like me, fans that enjoy artwork featuring young men in tight spandex. Yay for western comics fanservice!
