Home Today

I got home very late last night–I want to thank Cherish for letting me use her computer while I was visiting…I must be in contact with certain elements of the internet at all times: y!Gallery, otf_wank, and Goodreads.

I’m a bit tired this morning, and there’s a ton of stuff I need to catch up on–but my mood is a bit cranky, so bear with me.

This morning we had two lovely thunderstorms, each pelting the property with tiny bits of hail. I can’t wait till Mid-April and May, when we start getting the warnings for the Tornadoes that never happen, and we get the more serious hail–the stuff you can hit with a bat. By the end of May it’s about 90 degrees, the house goes shut and the air conditioner runs until Halloween. Ah, I love Austin Texas!!

I have new deadlines to meet–I’ve been tasked to script two plots that aren’t mine. (>.&gt ;) They’re good episodes, great premises, but they aren’t mine…so that kinda sucks.

I got an email from Lynsley, who’s now inking pages 40-80 of Games With Me. I’ve heard nothing from Amelie about Loud Snow, and I just hope it’s not a situation where about two months before the artwork is due, I get an email saying–I can’t do this. I kid you not, that would send me right over the edge. Not accusing her, I know she’s got an awesome work ethic, but the silence makes me cagey. It happened to me recently on another project with a different artist, and it really pissed me off–mainly because she wasn’t even mature enough to tell me she just wasn’t going to finish it–she just didn’t contact me anymore. As for Caroline, she’s late on the new cover for Only Words, and late on the novel cover–what did I expect? I’ve not heard from Laura in awhile, so I have no idea if Roulette is completed yet.

As for all this talk about RUSH being out by the end of MayI’ve heard nothing about that. Last time I spoke with my editor, the issues were still the same at DQ, and nothing had changed. As Taisa gracefully commented over on the Dramaqueen Forum:

Although, I’m not sure the information about DQ having books on the shelves by the end of May is absolutely accurate. It’s certainly possible, but it’s also possible that PW mistook the bosslady’s optimism for rock-solid information.

But it’s also possible that my information is outdated.

I’ve forwarded the article to the bosslady. Hopefully, she’ll get a chance to post something official here about it. I just want to be sure there wasn’t a misunderstanding during the interview.

I guess I’ll find out soon enough. :/ If it’s true, hallelujah!…if not, April Fools.

Yaoicon hasn’t listed any info about fan tables. This sucks, mainly because I got my room, got my membership, and got my panel approved–but if they spring up with a ‘all fan market tables sold out’ thing, then I’ll have to cancel all three. Which would massively suck. I debated on canceling anyway, as a creator–I’ve simply no desire to be there, but as a publisher, I have to go. 0_0. I haven’t heard anything from Yaoi North either, which also has me weirded out, because I need to order stock to sell–get a passport–and find out when and where my flight will be.

I saw the new guest announcements at Yaoi Jamboree, and I should feel excited by the fact that Twin Castle [2 chicks, 4 names] will be there. My hearts just soured on the whole process, private reasons, and I just can’t bring myself to get thrilled about it. I guess you can consider me defeated–my past experiences in pro-yaoi have completely put me off creating for it anymore. The weird thing is, up until Ikkicon, I thought I was past this shit–I knew I was 50% of the problem on the creator-editor level, and ceased being that—and yet still got an earful at Ikki about how I ruined things for my publisher [which in my opinion is complete bullshit]. Either way, I’m out. Focusing more on my title with them though, I’m curious to see if recent positive reviews for Only Words and Iris Print’s public troubles back in January, had any affect on the sales of Only Words. The quarter just ended last week–not sure if or when I will get a statement [I think it's like one month after the quarter--right?] but I’m definitely interested in looking it over. I also noticed that Iris Print is a vendor at Yaoi Jamboree–hopefully they’ll sell some books there as well.

BTW - I want to thank the Loveless Community at LJ for linking to my blog in their April Fools joke. Joke is over, there’s no whispy cat boys here…move along now. :)

Tomorrow, at one o’clock, there will be an auction in North Austin to sell off the seized assets from Thor’s Hammer Comics and Gaming. While the gaming community in Austin lamented its loss, I sort of suspected it was on its way out when I took a look at their inventory. It was basically made up of all the things ‘Diamond’ suggests you stock your shelves with–there was little in the way of originality–all the spandex books were there, as well as the ‘popular’ indies. No manga [but with all due respect, I'd rather look for manga at a place where they know what to order--I've been to many comic shops that stock it because 'it's hot right now' but they stock crap, and it doesn't sell.] The bulk of the store consisted of tables for gaming, and an endless amount of gaming toys, collectibles, and accessories. There’s a shop near Thor’s location, near the Alamo Drafthouse in North Austin, that specializes only in ‘Gaming’ things, and no comics. He’s doing well. Go figure. I will be at the auction hoping to score some presentation long-boxes, mini table-stands, and some DC hardcovers and paperback collections I don’t want to pay full price for.

Speaking of comics…ZOWIE… it’s Gone with The Nightwing.

Lord have mercy…it’s Starfire O’Hara, and is that Donna Troy? She’s back in that outfit that requires her tits to have speed lines whenever she moves her arms. And Cyborg…he’s now owned by Norelco! DC…come on, it’s like you take one step forward, and three flips back. How is it that you can make something cool like this, and even this-for the same series, and then fart out a cover like the one above?

Crap, I’ve got work to do and it’s 10:30 all ready. *sigh*.
