Licensing News.
I’m barely kicking it. I took a very late flight home last night–but I’m happy to be back on my own machine and in my own house. I hate trying to stay online when I’m somewhere else–things like LJ are always easy [everyone is on LJ, right?] but WordPress usage varies from place to place. If you’re logging in from a weird computer, it can be a hassle–especially when it comes to making posts.
It’s official…my German master is Wild Side. They seem very nice, and from what I’ve heard from others, I wont have any of the problems I’ve encountered in the past. I likely wont sabotage anything on my end either, since I wont have time to really ‘get involved’ in the process or production–and of course, it being in Germany is a huge factor. (^_^) Also, before anyone asks…the English version of Roulette still belongs to Dramaqueen, and Roulette will not be leaving RUSH. I believe in RUSH, and wont abandon it. It’ll be back, don’t worry. However, if you want to see Roulette in it’s entirety–well, the German fans will see it first. :/ Sorry about that.
Also… Only Words is being published in Poland by Studio JG, publisher of Otaku.pl [from what I've gathered from Polish creators is, they're in process of transitioning their company from 'doujinshi' printer, to 'original' manga publisher.] Now I strongly suspect, because of the moral climate in Poland, that Only Words will have a black cover with white text. It’s very conservative there right now [no really, it is] and I can’t complain much. Whatever keeps the book out of the hands of ignorant haters is all right with me–I’ve seen how the moral majority operates in Poland, and it’s not pretty.

Germany, on the other hand, is more conservative about other things… there is a postwar code in Germany that forbids the display of the Hakenkreuz [Swastika], unless it’s for educational purposes. While my book isn’t considered ‘pornography’ [hey, I got just enough plot--go me!] it’s still not educational either. Another cool thing about Germany is…German fans of gay-manga love and support the genre, whilst non-fans tend to be relatively tolerant of its existence. Their comics media and retail front, doesn’t over analyze, poke at, or avoid on principle…the very notion of alternative comics. A suggestive cover isn’t going hinder Wild Side from being able to sell the book, as it would here [or in Poland.]
So, a new cover will be on display for the German edition of Only Words.
