New Punk Shoes.

I picked up a new pair of Nike sneakers for the UK trip.

My daughter saw the Nike symbol, and immediately called them, Punk Shoes. The reference comes from a autobiographical graphic novel called Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi. I love these books, and so I bought them–my daughter read them in a span of two days.

The term ‘punk shoes’ comes from Marji’s unfortunate run-in with some of the crones from the women’s leg of the ‘Guardians of the Revolution’. They were the Iranian governments watchdog against women who were out in public–dressed inappropriately, or behaving badly. [Thank G*d I live in America.]

If you haven’t read Persepolis, you should. It’s great.

A New Yaoi Journal

Thank G*d, because the yaoi-blogdom was getting pretty dismal!

I found their journal at LJ, and I actually know these ladies [they've reviewed some of my stuff--and I think Cyn was writing some pieces for the AKADot newsletter--not sure...]

It’s the Boys Next Door LJ Community [ties into their BL site].  and AHA!  I knew Tokyo Pop was up to something! (^_^)   According to BND, Daemonium is a horror manga from Tokyo Pop featuring GloBL creators Kosen.  I agree with the poster at BND, pretty-men arts and general genres go great together…I wonder if we’ll get any ’sports’ shonen drawn by a GloBL mangaka?
