Ouch!

I know this tends to snowball on boards like 2Chan and around the Japanese fandoms…and I know on y!Gallery it’s a ban-ble offense is you don’t credit -

I distinctly recall crediting the 2005 Prada ad [Steven Meisel shot that season] for the back copy of Only Words–why did I do this? Because there are folks out there who are always quick on the trigger with this sort of thing: YOU STOLE IT!! >.> Something like this came up recently at y! when an artist would take commissions, and use the references given to him by his clients to create near exact replicas, and thus he was accused of ‘tracing’.

Is it plagiarism to re-enact a print ad if it’s obvious you didn’t trace it? What about the above photo? Is it traced? The background looks pretty damn close on mark–but I’m not quick to accuse her of tracing.

Libre has pulled the a chapter from BBG – and so I wonder…will anyone ask about it at Yaoicon?
