About Closed Comments

Man, I can’t believe I have to remind everyone about this. It’s been suggested that I turn off comments here at Guns, Guys, and Yaoi, because I don’t want ‘certain’ people to comment at my blog. That’s BS. Comments on all posts are open for 48 hours. If no comment has been made, then the entry goes to ‘Comments Off’.

Why do I do this? I have a popular blog. Search terms for this blog are words like ‘yaoi’ ‘gay’ ‘erotic comics’ and a plethora of other words that draw in spam bots like bears to honey. I don’t have the luxury of leaving past blog entries open for extended periods of time, because it opens my more popular posts, to spam. Thanks to Akismet, 98% of the pharmaceutical and XXX adverts, is netted; I delete about 15-20 of these ‘spam comments’ from my moderation queue, every day. Thank G*d for toggle. On top of the bots, I get the opportunists; those ninja-style posters who just want to get their blog some hits, so they post on an old and popular topic that’s still collecting comments [because it had comments before the 48 period shut-down, the comments stay open] and so they advertise their URL on my blog after making some lame ass post or asking some rhetorical question. My blog is not a billboard. If I suspect that you’ve done this, I’ll remove your URL from your username in the comment, but let your comment stand. If I think you’ve commented for the sole purpose of advertising yourself, then I delete the entire comment.

Honestly, if you want exposure, just ask. Don’t try sneak attacks. Respect my house.
